The New LEED Gold Kaiser Permanente - Kona Medical Office Building consists of three free standing structures connected via a covered walkway. Pre-fabricated building kit makes up the structure of all three buildings. The space between the three buildings features a Hawaiian medicinal plant garden and landscaped patios. The buildings and garden are strategically placed to provide shelter from the sun and wind creating a microclimate which will minimize the amount of water required to irrigate the garden and provide a more usable outdoor space for the building occupants. This project also includes an on-site wastewater treatment system consisting of standard collection and septic tanks for primary treatment with a constructed wetland for secondary treatment. 200 parking spaces with 6 EV charging stations are available for vehicular parking in a two-tiered parking lot. The owner utilized a Design/Build method to deliver the project with Maryl Group as the Design/Build team leader. The faicility was completed approximately 3 months ahead of schedule.
